SASA hosts a wide range of cultural, social, and community-focused events throughout the academic year.
From large-scale celebrations to smaller gatherings, our programming is designed to foster connection,
cultural exploration, and shared experiences across campus.

SASA hosts an annual Diwali celebration in the fall quarter,
bringing students across campus together to celebrate light,
renewal, and community through shared experience + connection.
The programming typically features a catered buffet dinner,
student performances, and sparklers, creating a festive and
welcoming space that is open to the wider campus community
and highlights cultural tradition and collective celebration.
SASA’s Eid celebration marks the end of Ramadan and
brings students together in reflection, joy, and community
through shared food, music, and time together.
Free and open to all members of the University community,
the event welcomes students of all backgrounds and familiarity
with the holiday to participate, with cultural attire encouraged.

Formal serves as SASA’s largest purely social event, and is
a highlight of the winter or spring quarter, bringing
together students from all class years.
A spring festival celebrating South Asian culture, Mela brings a festive, open-air atmosphere to campus and is designed to be accessible and welcoming to the broader community.
The event features diverse cultural showcases, food options,
and interactive booths that invite attendees to engage with
South Asian traditions in a casual, outdoor setting.
